You Want to Stop, You Want to Feel

Life is so fast-paced, yet so slow to progress.

We are so caught up in the moment of reward that the release of pleasure clouds our rational thinking.

Capitalism has employed advertising (manipulating) campaigns to define the things that bring us happiness and peace of mind.

In a race to find the most satisfying, most reassuring lollipop we can, we lose something.

The stress on being a hyperindividualist has taken a toll on our ability to both be ourselves and be social.

Many of us seek relationships based on external reasons, and miss the underlying love that is shared among all humans.

We seek uniqueness, individuality, and reassurance that it is still true.

Any one of these three is the primary driver of advertised messages, and has had a direct effect on all of our decisions.

Although our family and friends care for and influence us, they too are subjected to the same advertised messages.

In this way, the concept of social acceptance (reassurance) and individuality is spoon fed to make everyone feel they are truly unique and different, but rather they are all the same in their ways of working and consuming.

The system perpetuates itself through big business interests, power brokers, and the manipulative advertising and media they fund.

Truly, it has barely been a few generations since the advent of capitalism, and now as globalization continues its never-ending march, I am left to wonder how we will prevail but to push it beyond negative intentions into the realm of genuine best human interests.

Believe me when I quote the grouch: “I know you wanna stop, I know you wanna feel.” here he is talking about breaking the exact cycle of consumption that has the potential to consume our own good human nature and true happiness.

I sincerely hope this has given you some small insight.
