1. Your world has an economy, is it prosperous? What is it’s long term outlook? Is it paying off its debts on time?




2. Your world has a culture, is it vibrant? What new areas are being explored? What things make it different, and interesting?




3. Your world has an environment, is it growing, stagnating, or worse? How well is it being sustained? How long can it survive on this course?




4. Your world has different countries (interests), are they at odds with each other? Is there a struggling country? Which country is the best at what it does?




5. Your world has room to improve. What do you need to do to make it prosperous in all areas? Evolve — some things in each area must die and others need to grow, but with enough trial and effort, your world can achieve a net gain.

There is a flip side to all of this.

The World Self:

If the world were a person, how healthy and prosperous would it be in all of the above areas?

This is a scary thought at first, but I choose to remain optimistic =]

RSSCloud and PubSubHubBub basically enable RSS Feeds to update in real time instead of periodically — and RSS Feeds are already installed on all modern blogs and content management systems on the web.

What does this mean?

Do you know how Twitter works in Real Time?  Whenever a person you follow posts an update to twitter it is immediately “pushed” to simultaneously update in every place where you might read it in “Real Time”.

This means that every blog on the internet is now capable of updating RSS Feed readers in real time, and has the potential to give everybody access to the content contained on the entire internet at the speed of a Twitter update.

From the technical side it means that instead of your feed reader having to periodically “poll” the content source to find any new updates, the content source has the power to host the update “in the cloud” and make it available almost instantaneously to anyone who may want to read / consume the content.

This is a huge paradigm shift in the flow of the internet and it will be extremely interesting to see how developers build new services to take advantage of this fact…

I don’t know about you but I just installed the RSSCloud WordPress Plugin and I am pretty excited. =)

Three sided-cloud 

There are three sides to the cloud:

1. The authoring tool. I edit and update a feed. It contains a <cloud> element that says how a subscriber should request to notification of updates.
2. The cloud. It is notified of an update, and then in turn notifies all subscribers.
3. The subscriber. A feed reader, aggregator, whatever — that subscribes to feeds that may or may not be part of a cloud.

iPhone?

Nonetheless, the sheer functionality of the device in such an elegant form has been executed perfectly by apple.

The raw power of the app community gives the iPhone’s hardware features steroids and really make it better as time goes on with more creative and functional apps being released.

It is really exciting to be out in public and have an idea, check it on the internet, and react to the social or personal graph accordingly. Suddenly, the things that we need to do and think about are easier and though we waste all of our time with the device it seems like we are being much more productive. The social media, communication, information, entertainment, and utility value are all 9 / 10 in my opinion.

Drawbacks (for the white version at least) include cracking shells. Yes that’s right, my white 3G S is barely a month old and it has the notorious cracks in the plastic other users have been reporting.

I also have been using a seidio innocase and happen to have dropped the phone twice with it on… nonetheless this would be very disturbing had I not signed up for Applecare.

I thought it seemed like a cool phone when I had never used it before. Now it has truly exceeded my expectations and I have to give it a generous recommendation to anyone who enjoys social media.
